Stay – Hood River to Leavenworth USA
They say some places are hard to leave. That’s certainly the case with Hood River this morning, not because we don’t want to go, it just won’t let us out.

There are two highways between Portland and Hood River. Sometimes they are the same road, sometimes they diverge by about a hundred metres. I-84 is a freeway. Highway 30 is not. Take Highway 30.
I heard today that there is a rare type of fly that lays its eggs on the surface of Crater Lake. The eggs sink all the way to the bottom of the lake where they hatch….Do the fly larvae ever think “hey, it’s pretty cool down here at eighteen hundred feet, why bother going any higher?”

The bad news is – well – the same as the good news.
